Softball

GYS Softball is a recreational softball program for girls currently enrolled in grades 1st-6th at Gilbert Schools. The grade level is the child’s current grade at the time of registration. All teams are coached by parent volunteers. Practices are held at the softball field located at Gilbert Middle School or the Gilbert Elementary School fields and schedules will be communicated by coaches. The teams are part of the Story Baseball League which is coordinated by the Central Iowa Recreation League (CIRL). The league includes Ames, Colo-Nesco, Collins Maxwell, Gilbert, Nevada, Roland-Story and South Hamilton. Games will be held in Gilbert and in other CIRL communities.

Practice Begins: Grades 1st/2nd: practice begins May 5 Grades 3rd-6th: practice begins March 24 Game Schedule: Grades 1st/2nd: May 12 - June 26, Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (2x per week) Grades 3rd/4th: games April 21 - June 6, Monday & Thursday (end of year tournament week of June 9) Grades 5th/6th: games April 21 - June 6, Tuesday & Friday (end of year tournament week of June 9) Location: Gilbert Elementary/Middle School Fields Cost: Grades 1st/2nd: $70 + $10 optional jersey fee Grades 3rd-6th: $90 + $10 optional jersey fee
Registration includes visor and jersey if needed. You will only need a new jersey if switching levels (tball to 1st, 2nd to 3rd, or 4th to 5th), needing a new size, or new to the program Not included: black softball pants and red socks.
